We last left the crew entering into the powered down and drifting ship, The Heavenly Ghost.

Into the Belly of the Beast

The group made their way into the ship, all of them finding the silence disconcerting. After walking for about 100 feet the group comes across a stairway, leading up and down, while the passageway still stretched on in front of them.

Justin looks at his datapad, “Up will take us to the armory, shuttle docks, and bridge. First floor below us is medical and quarters. Below that is Upper Cargo and last is Lower Cargo and Engineering. Straight ahead is common area including refreshers and kitchen. I want to check out the bridge. See what’s going on, maybe restore the ship systems.”

“I’ll go below deck and check out medical. Maybe people are there.”

Raina nodded, “Good. Keep the comlinks open. I’ll go to the common area and see what I can find. Max, where are you going?”

“I’ll go with you. Keep you safe.”

“That’s sweet, but unnecessary.”

Derek and Justin let out a low, “oooo.”

“Enough you two. Get to work and keep the comlinks open.” Raina said reprovingly, but with a wry smile.

With a plan set the crew split and went their separate directions.

The Common Room

Raina and Max made their way slowly down the corridor until it opened up into a large room with doors leading off to each side, one for the refresher units and the other to the kitchen.

There were two long tables with plenty of chairs in the middle and a couch at the end facing a decent sized Cortex Viewer. It became immediately evident that something was very wrong.
Two people were on the couch, unmoving, their heads thrown back so their faces weren’t visible. Another person lie on the floor, belly down. Raina moved cautiously to the bodies and both she and Max took in a deep breath.

“I found dead people.” Raina said quietly. All three people looked like they died in incredible pain, their faces frozen in agony. All were covered in their own sick and congealed blood led from their eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and other extremities. “Ruttin Hell. This is insane. No one take your helmets off!”

Raina quickly described the condition of the bodies, “Thomas!” She said angrily, “What was the nature of these medical supplies this ship was carrying?”

Thomas came in over the comlink sounding nervous and horrified, “Honestly from what I was told just supplies for Beylix to deal with respirator ailments. There shouldn’t have been anything that could have caused this kind of… thing!”

“I’ll believe you for the moment, Thomas. Everyone else keep looking, tell me what you find. Max and I are going to continue to poke around here.”

“Captain I found dead people too.” Came Justin’s voice.

“Me Too.” From Derek.

Raina gritted her teeth, “This just keeps getting better and better.”
